Social design appears to be seen as a new buzz word. Does it differentiate itself in education and practice? Is it just an extension of the prevailing design discipline or demands new imagination in its efficacy and potential? Combining “Social” with design has thrown up debates and questions in its implications and a positional shift in the approach, tools and methods. Despite these continuing debates, Social Design is gaining ground as a discipline and pedagogy beyond a simple paraphrasing of Design with “Social”.
