Roha is a landscape architecture firm with a commitment to creating open spaces that enrich the lives of their users. In all its work, Roha strives to find the spirit of the place, by weaving together history, nature, human relationships, art, environment and culture to create unique and beautiful landscapes. In 2014, Roha’s principal owner Aditya Advani was presented an Award Of Excellence and a Certificate of Commendation by the Indian Society of Landscape Architects ISOLA.
Educated and experienced in landscape architecture, planning, and architecture, Aditya Advani brings multidisciplinary thinking and a strong collaborative approach to the design table. He has worked on a variety of landscape architectural designs, and brings attentiveness to the ‘larger picture’ context as well as the intimate detail that is necessary for a successful project. His work is oriented towards making people-friendly, inclusive public landscapes that are energetic, imaginative, and educational. A thoughtful use of plant materials and issues of sustainability are a focus of his approach.
Prior to starting Roha, Aditya was an owner in a US firm called RHAA based in San Francisco. During his 24 year tenure at RHAA he managed, designed and built the Union Square plaza, several corporate campuses including one for Google and Hewlett Packard, as well as several college campuses, public parks, and streets. In June 2015, Aditya left RHAA to start his own firm in India.
Aditya’s primary education is in architecture from SPA, Delhi. He holds a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture and second Masters Degree in City Planning from University of California, Berkeley. He has also taught at UC Berkeley for twelve years. He is a licensed landscape architect in the State of California and a LEED accredited professional.
