The twin design firms, ‘Plural Design’ and ‘Oracles’, are led by Sandip Kumar and Suneet Mohindru, with Ashwani Datta and Harbir Singh as Associate Principals. ‘Plural Design’ primarily takes up architectural and interior design commissions, while ‘Oracles’ delves into landscape design and site planning consultancy services.
Sandip and Suneet graduated from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi in the early 1990s, Sandip is currently pursuing MS in Sustainable Urban Development from University of Oxford, UK, and is a post graduate associate at Oxford’s Future of Cities programme. Suneet followed up his B.Arch with a Masters in Landscape Architecture from SPA New Delhi and a research fellowship in Heritage Conservation and Historical Landscapes from De Mont Ford University, UK. Ashwini graduated from the School of Architecture, Centre for Environment Planning & Technology, Ahmedabad, followed by M.Arch from the University of Arizona, USA. Harbir has also been a student of SPA New Delhi, having pursued both, an undergraduate degree in Architecture and a Masters in Landscape Architecture followed by a short exploration as a research fellow at CEEST, University of Massachusetts, USA. A group of young and enthusiastic architects further bolster the team, and each project becomes an occasion to explore plurality of ideas within the design discourse.
The group bring together a varied and eclectic mix of training, background and experience, and one that has become bedrock of their design partnership and dialogue. They believe in supplementing their essential roles as architects to include collating and integrating multiple disciplines, moving away from insular sites of specialization, and towards exploring and celebrating the seamless interconnectedness of parts.
